According to Mickensy Ellis-White, the Trep OnTrack Business Bootcamp changed her life. A graduate of the 2021 pioneering cohort of the program, which is funded by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority R3 grant, she says the experience completely altered her life:
“When I started the Trep OnTrack Business Bootcamp, I was working full time in a job I didn’t like and trying to break into private practice,” Mickensy says. “I am now working full-time in my private practice and teaching yoga on the side. I am living my dream.”
Now, almost two years after completing the program, she’s continuing to use the skills she learned with Trep OnTrack to run a private practice as a mental health counselor. “The program taught me vital tools to run my business efficiently. Tricia (Teague) helped me break through my limiting beliefs and step into my power.”
Her business, Mpower Counseling, PLLC, provides mental health services for children and adults in Danville and surrounding areas. Along with trauma and substance abuse counseling, Mickensy also teaches yoga as part of her total mind-body approach to improving mental health.
After successfully completing the program, Mickensy used her business grant to declutter her office and make her environment one she feels great in. “I purchased a storage shed to hold equipment that was taking up too much space in my office. I am so happy with it!”
She feels the most essential part of the Trep OnTrack Business Bootcamp program is having a business coach you can lean on. “Tricia’s support, understanding, and encouragement was the most valuable and impactful aspect of the program. She is one of my favorite people! I am forever grateful for the opportunity, and I share how amazing both the program and Tricia are with as many people as I can.”
